The event is held at the end of September each year,
generally the last weekend of September: the first weekend of the
school holidays.
The
format is simple: a number of retail outlets that specialise in
olives will open their doors and invite visitors to sample their
produce. In addition, a number of small growers that do not
generally open to the public will join the regular retail
outlets to offer their produce for sale and tastings.
The
winning entries from the Hunter Olive Show will be available for
tasting. Also members of the Hunter Olive Association will be on hand
to answer questions on olive growing, pickling, oil making, judging
....
Producers
with an on-site factory or mill will invite visitors to inspect
the facilities and see how it is all done. There is also the
chance to buy directly from the factory in bulk!
Cooking
demonstrations, music and dancing should entertain and distract.
Wine
tasting and lunch will be available at several outlets.
