The 2017 Annual Hunter Olive Show

This year has seen a record number of entries to the Hunter Olive Show. We kept the entry fees unchanged for this year and expect that next year will see little or no change to fees.

For the first time we introduced regional awards for the best extra virgin olive oil from Tasmania, from Victoria and for the region we have defined as NSW excluding the Hunter Valley.

When we get more entries in the table olive classes we will instigate similar regional awards for the best table olive entry.
A key feature of the show is the affordability of entry fees. It provides an opportunity at a modest cost for a grove to have multiple entries across a whole range of classes. In time we expect to add more regional awards so that the Hunter component is one part of the show. This year only 28% of exhibitors were from the Hunter, although they accounted for just under 50% of entries.

There are two keys to the success of the Hunter Olive Show.

First it is run by volunteers, most of whom have been helping at the show for years. On judging day, the local volunteers are supplemented by out of Hunter judges who help ensure a national outlook to our judging. We give special thanks for those who travelled long distances to be with us.

The second key to our success is the support from our sponsors most of whom have very consistently supported the show for many years. The generosity of our sponsors is the key to keeping fees low.

Finally thank you to all our sponsors, judges and volunteers: well done, another successful show.
