Following the work done by Peter Herborn and his committee on member grove size and tree composition, we would like to get an idea of what the 2023 crop might be like in the Hunter area. This will enable some planning for harvest and oil pressing, We would hope to hold a field day mid February for members to discuss this. We will be contacting groves but if you prefer could email back information to this short questionnaire:
Do you expect to harvest in 2023?
NO: any special reason?
YES: oil or table?
Do you have any idea of volume?
When do you think you might be harvesting?
This in view to requirements for harvesting. Will you need machine for harvesting?
Might you need transport services?
Oil processing services?
Table processing services?
These all need to be booked in prier to harvest time.
These are very basic questions to consider, especially for those who have been harvesting for years, but we do have quite a few new members who may want to ask questions and get information on contacts. Once we have some estimate of likely harvest, a date and venue for discussion, as well as spraying issues, e.g.withholding periods for Chemicals, and any other issues members would like to raise, will be set.
Our trees have been stressed over the last season, more than most. January is a good month to have leaf analysis done to assess nutritional needs.
